-Lost in the Dark has a brand-spankin new store, for my art prints, our comic books, my original art, t-shirts, etc. It’s powered by BigCartel.com, so go on and check it out, we have a special discount code for the holidays, just put in LOSTINTHEHOLIDAY for a 25% discount.
-Alien Echo. Yeah, I know, it’s railroaded right off the tracks, but that’s gonna be corrected soon. In the meantime, you can always check out the iPhone Alien Echo serialization, the first issue is free, the rest are a buck a pop. Links to each are right there to your right!
-Back to get wrecked! More Nacho Tsunami.

So in a week we’ll be doing APE, the Alternative Press Expo across the way over in San Francisco. Should be a fun show. Last year was kind of light, because (a) it was raining cats n dogs, (b) Obama was about to be elected, (c) Prop 8 was about to be defeated (boo!), and (d) I think it was literally a night or two before Halloween. So indie comics just didn’t seem to be at the top of priorities for folks in the bay area. No one’s fault, just happened to be a bad weekend for the show. We still did good, considering we had pretty much nothing there that was new. So this year, we’ve got the first issue of American Juice (which made its debut at San Diego and still hasn’t gone up in the store yet. My bad.), we’ve got a bunch of new prints of my stuff, and I’ll be bringing some original art from past projects to sell for pretty cheap. So I’m looking forward to this show. We’re also bringing a 24-page mini-comic, This Is It, which is a re-jiggered version of a 24-hour comic Jeff and I did a few years back.

Finally, our Lost in the Dark YouTube page will be going live with as-it-happens (more or less) videos from the show. Link to that via our Twitter, Facebook and Lost in the Dark HQ.
Nice words are said about our space epic over at www.artpatient.com!!!
Speaking of which, Echo will return this Tuesday. Hopefully, this will have been the last skip week before the sixth and final chapter concludes our story.
-Lost in the Dark’s next convention is the Alternative Press Expo this October 17-18 at the Concourse in San Francisco. American Juice #1 will be new to the show, as will MAYBE possibly one other surprise if I can whip it up in time. Big IF.
-Was chatting with friends Anthony Leano and Paul Allen from Brains yesterday at the From The Land Beyond Horror Fest in Sacramento. While chatting with Leano about the possibility of porting Brains to Amazon’s Kindle, Paul interrupted with, “I’m not sure about webcomics, I don’t ever see them replacing real comics.” That made me think of the Sam Rockwell line from Matchstick Men, “I don’t get the internet, I think it’s just a fad.” Brains is a helluva book, though.
-Speaking of which, Video #2 is now available for the Kindle, and Alien Echo #3 and #4 should be available for the iPhone through the iTunes app store within a week or so. The first chapter is up now for free, and #2 is up for $.99. More digital goodness to come.
-Go check out www.emonic.net and alexchiu.carbonmade.com. They’re friends and ridiculously talented artists.
-Back to work.

In short, being an indie comics guy, especially an indie comics guy with several new projects on teh horizon, I figured it was high time to speak up and out about the ever-changing landscape of indie comics. Or, at least, how I see these waves of change effecting Lost in the Dark. So here’s the fist edition of Scrumzine, the hopefully weekly blogthing about the ins and outs of the day. Expect lots of links, lots of plugs for Lost in the Dark stuff, lots of our links to our friends and allies made along the way, lots of links to stuff we like, etc and so on.
